Singer Swarnalatha passed awaySouth Indian singer Swarnalatha passed away at a private hospital in Chennai. She was 37.

She has been singing with many famous music directors.

She was born to a harmonium player and singer K C Cherukutty and Kalyani. Swarnalatha knows to play harmonium and keyboard.

She won the National Film Award for best female playback singer for her rendition of the famous song Porale Ponnuthayi from the film Karuthamma. The song was composed by A R Rahman, with whom she has given lot of memorable songs.

Actor and Director Venu Nagavalli Passes away!!!

Actor and Director Venu Nagavalli Passes AwayVenu Nagavally, an actor, screenwriter and director of Malayalam cinema,died at Thiruvananthapuram. He was admitted to the KIMS hospital due to liver related problems. His wife Meera and son Vivek were with him at that time. Body will bring to his home at Kowadiar today and the date of funeral will decide later.

Venu Nagavally is the son of the renowned writer Nagavally R.S. Kurup. He has acted in around 50 films and directed a dozen of Malayalam movies.

Mammootty turns 57!

Mammootty turns 57!Superstar Mammootty was busy doing what he knows best on his birthday. He was shooting for his upcoming film 'Best Actor' as he turned 57 today.

'There were no celebrations this birthday. It is the fasting month of Ramadan so only two things will happen - work and prayers,' he said.

'In my home it was just like any other day. As it is the fasting month, the customary cutting of cake on the shooting sets did not take place. Now for breaking the fast, I will be home and there would be nothing special. No parties or get together,' Mammootty said.

A Padma Shri winner, Mammootty said his daughter and son called up to wish him.

In a career spanning more than three decades, Mammootty has acted in more than 300 films which include English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. He has won three National Awards, seven State Awards and 10 Filmfare Awards.

He continues to have a glorious career as his recent films have all been blockbusters. Later this week, his film 'Pranchiettan and the Saint' is expected to hit theatres.
