Charmi replaces Vimala in Sevakudu?

Contrary to earlier reports that popular South Indian actress Vimala Raman would be the heroine opposite Tollywood's handsome family hero Srikanth in his forthcoming Sevakudu, an unconfirmed report said that charming beauty Charmi has replaced Vimala in this flick, being directed V. Samudra and produced by M. Sudhakar.

In this action entertainer, Srikanth plays a cop. At present, shooting is taking place in the outskirts of Hyderabad.

Srikanth Deva is composing the music. Pradeep Rawat, Ahuti Prasad, Jay Prakash Reddy are part of this entertainer while Ali and Brahmanandam will provide the comic relief. This movie is expected to release in July.

AMMA's legal notice against Azhikode!

For making insulting statements against its members, AMMA has served a legal notice to Dr. Sukumar Azhikode. Azhikode has also repeatedly protested against offering a D.Litt to Lal and also making the superstar, famous for endorsing liquor brands, the brand ambassador of the Khadi products in the state.

Dr. Azhikode has earlier joined in the lines of Thilakan, and in order to offer support to the veteran actor has engaged in verbal tussles with many AMMA members, including superstar Mohanlal.

Mohanlal turns 50

The living legend and icon of Malayalam cinema is turning 50 today. Lalettan as he is affectionately known among millions of Malayalees world over is keeping it a very private affair.

His fans in Kerala and other parts of the world wanted to celebrate it in a big way, but the star himself has told them that he wants to keep it simple and a very private affair. His fan clubs wanted a very ostentatious big bash in Thiruvananthapuram his home town, but the actor refused to take part in any pompous birthday celebrations.

Mohanlal told “I really don’t believe in a big bash or celebrating it in a glitzy manner. It is going to be a very private affair as some of my close friends who grew with me are planning a party for me.”

Mohanlal will be spending his birthday at home in Chennai with wife Suchitra, and children Appu and Maya. In the evening Mohanlal’s close buddies led by director Priyadarshan, singer MG Sreekumar, actor and producer Manian Pillai Raju and a few other buddies are planning “a private birthday party at a exotic getaway near Chennai”.

Actress Khushboo's out from reality game show!

Jaya TV has decided to stop telecasting the nine-year-long popular reality game show 'Jackpot'. This show was anchored by Khushboo. Few days back Khushboo entered into politics by joining its political rival and ruling DMK. The source said that this may the reason to pull back the show.

Khushboo said it was not a surprise for her as she was expecting it since joining the DMK. . The 39-year-old actress, however, said it was wrong to mix business with politics.

Vijayakumar arrested!

The charges of cheating people after promising to get them visas and passports, Malayalam supporting actor Vijayakumar was arrested by the Kalamassery police. He held from his house in Pipeline Road, Kochi. Vijayakumar was remanded to the Aluva sub-jail for 14 days by the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, Aluva.

The police said he allegedly took Rs. 3.50 lakhs from Louis D'Cruz in 2007, after promising him a U.S. visa. He is also accused of getting a sum of Rs. 4.19 lakhs from Muraleedharan of Vaduthala for a U.K. visa and passport. He went back on his promise in both the cases and refused to return the money.

Amar Singh in Malayalam movie!

India's leading politician Amar make his appearance in Malayalam movie titled “Bombay Mittayi”. He will do the role of a Hindustani singer. Bollywood actor Dimple Kapadia playing Amar Singh's wife. Young Vinu Mohan is the hero in this movie, directed by Umar Karikad.

Amar Singh is from Uttar Pradesh and one of the founding leaders of Samajwadi Party.

Juhi Chawla with Mohanlal again!

Bollywood beauty Juhi Chawla is making a coming back Malayalam industry as the heroine of Mohanlal. Her last movie was 'Harikrishnans' directed by Fazil.

Juhi will be in for the heroine role in ‘Gaatha’, the new movie by Shaji N Karun ,based on the famous story ''Kadal''. It is rumoured that Shaji had been considering the likes of Madhuri Dixit and Jaya Bachchan, before he zeroed in on Juhi. The shoot for the movie is expected to start by next month at Ladakh. ‘Gaatha’ which will also make use of foreign name in the technical side, will have its locations at Vienna and in some other parts of India.

Miss World contest won second place, Parvathy Omanakuttan, is all set to make her Kollywood debut soon. The movie titled as “Uma Maheswaram”. This movie on the classical dance form Bharatanatyam. The beauty queen Parvathy Omanakuttan already signed for this movie.

On May 1 Moser Baer Home Entertainment has been launched Home Video of Pazhassi Raja. The surprise is that in three days the CD-DVD has broken all records in Malayalam home video by selling over two lakh units.

Moser Baer Home Entertainment CEO said that they have already touched the sales of 2,00,000 units of VCDs and DVDs of Pazhassi Raja. Which is the highest in the Home Videos of Malayalam so far for any title.

Tharoor may get engaged to Sunanda Pushkar!

According to reliable sources, politician Shashi Tharoor may well be getting engaged to the woman he loves -- Sunanda Pushkar -- at Sanjay Khan's luxury hotel Golden Palms Resort and Spa Bangalore on June 27 this year.
Says a source, "Sunanda has been discussing her engagement plans with close friends in Mumbai and Dubai. She's thrilled and wants to share the good news with friends and family."

Apparently, Sanjay is popular within Congress circles. He frequently visits Delhi and during one such visit met Shashi at a party. They became friendly and Khan's wife Zarine invited Shashi and Sunanda to stay at the Golden Palms.

The source adds that the couple took up the invite and spent the weekend at the hotel with friends during the first week of April -- a week before his resignation. "In fact, the two loved their stay there so much that they decided to have their engagement at the resort. The ceremony will take place in June and the marriage within the next six months. It's all hush-hush until the details are finalised."

Khan claims to be ignorant about the bookings made at his hotel for the event. "I am not in Delhi and go to Bangalore only for a day or so. I haven't been to the city in the last 15 days. I will have to check with my staff if the resort has a booking listed for Shashi for such an event on June 27. But even if it's true, I can't reveal confidential information to outsiders."

He adds, "But of course, I'd love it if Shashi had his engagement ceremony here at the Golden Resorts. He's a fine gentleman and a great person known to me on a personal level."
But what about Shashi-Sunanda's previous stay at his hotel? "They haven't stayed at my resort," claims Sanjay.

Shashi Tharoor remained unavailable for comment despite attempts made to contact him via email, SMS and over the phone. Sunanda Pushkar didn't reply to an email we sent her either.

Tamannah is better than Kareena: Karthi

Even as rumour mills working overtime saying Karthi Sivakumar and Tamannah are seeing each other, the ‘Paiyaa’ hero has said that he was awestruck by the complexion of his ladylove in the movie.

“When I was working as an assistant to Mani Ratnam, Kareena Kapoor stunned me with her skin tone on the sets of ‘Yuva’. But I later realised that Tamannah is fairer than Kareena when I met her first for Paiyaa,” the young actor has said in an interview.

He added: “The girl was so fair that she was shining bright than the white dress she was wearing. I admire her a lot.” Karthi is however careful in denying reports on his alleged relationship with Tamannah.

“Some say I have recommended her for my forthcoming film. There is no truth in it and Tamannah no more needs recommendations. The makers of the movie, who felt that our chemistry was great in ‘Paiyaa’, decided to cast us together again,” he said.
