Kamal Haasan is doing a cameo appearance in a Malayalam film after 23 years!
Malayalam Cinema’s young hit director Saji Surendran (Ivar Vivahitharayal, Happy Husbands ) is the lucky guy to get Kamal’s date for a cameo appearance in his latest film Four Friends.
Kamal's best friend in Malayalam industry Jayaram is the hero of the film which also has Jayasurya, Kunchacko Bobban and Meera Jasmine. All scenes featuring Kamal will be shot in Chennai.
Saji Surendran said “Kamal sir liked the script and situation and immediately agreed to do this cameo. His character is the catalyst who appears in the turning point and very crucial to the story.”
Surendran approached Kamal through Jayaram, and in fact Kamal told the director in lighter vein – “I’m doing the film for my good friend Jayaram. You should change the title from ‘Four Friends’ to ‘For a Friend’.” Kamal is not charging any remuneration for the film and will shoot for the film before August 10 in Chennai.
Ulaganayagan’s last film in Malayalam was more than two decades back, the IV Sasi directed Vrutham in 1987. Kamal had plan's to do a Malayalam movie with Mohanlal during their Unnaipol Oruvan days but it didn’t work out.
Kamal in interviews to local Malayalam media and at several award functions which he attended in Kerala, had revealed his desire to be part of a Malayalam movie.
Rahman injured!!!
Malayalam-Tamil-Telugu actor Rahman met with an accident at Bangkok. He was in the set of his dream project in Malayalam Musafir.
Rahman got injured during a bomb blast scene. A shell hit him but the injury is not serious. Notably, Rahman’s wife Mehurunisa’s elder sister Saira Banu is married to Oscar winning composer A.R. Rahman and the actor is very close to his co-brother-in-law A.R. Rahman.

‘Yakshiyum Njanum’ release barren
Director Vinayan’s ‘Yakshiyum Njanum’ which was to be release on July 30 has not made it. Vinayan, who is always critical of the Malayalam super stars, has again blamed a group of actors including the super stars for plotting to stall his film’ release.
The film which was all set to release was blocked by the Kerala Film Chamber saying it did not have the publicity clearance certificate from the chamber. Today Vinayan has requested the Chief Minister to step in and sort out the issue.
‘Yakshiyum Njanum’ is as understood by the title is a love story starring newcomers Gowtham, Shyam, Meghna Nair in the lead.

Mohammed Asif to star in Malayalam movie
Pakistani fast bowler Mohammed Asif will make his film debut with a Malayalam movie, directed by lyricist Kaithapram Damodaran Namboodiri.
The shooting of the film, titled Mazhavillinnattamvare (Till the tip of the rainbow), is scheduled to begin in September.
Besides Asif, Mazhavillinnattamvare will also mark the directorial debut of Kaithapram, who has penned hundreds of songs and won several national and State awards.
“Asif is now busy playing cricket in England. He will be free by September to begin shooting in Kannur,” Kaithapram told.
To play role of coach
“The film begins with Asif coming to a cricket camp in Kannur as a coach. When he travels from Lahore to Kerala, he has a personal mission too. The film will progress through his journey to his goal.”
Kaithapram has also penned the story, besides writing the the script and lyrics.
There will be five songs and a ghazal, the mixing of which will be done in London. The songs will be rendered by K.J. Yesudas, Udit Narayan, Shankar Mahadevan, K.S. Chitra, Deepankuran and Shreya Ghoshal.
The film is being produced by a Sharjah-based entrepreneur M. Mukundan, who hails from Kannur, under the banner of Valluvankadavu Recreations.
