Priyadarshan’s Kanchivaram has been reaping glories galore at the National level andPrakash Rajhas emerged as one of the most talented actors who can carry a character with much ease and poise. However what has been lurking in the minds the Malayalees is that Priyadarshan andMohanlalare known as the best of friends. If so then why did the director not cast his friend Mohanlal in Kanchivaram?
Well, before you jump to any conclusions, let us hear it right from Priyadarshan’s mouth, “My best friend Mohanlal was supposed to dothe film But he couldn’t as he had date problems. After that, I decided to castPrakash Raj whose fantastic performance and dialogue delivery did the magic.”
Luck has definitely favoured Prakash Raj and the filmmaker does not regret his choice, for he says, “Prakash took Kanchivaram to a different level. He was totally committed and did the film without any remuneration.” Priyan even goes onto say that he had also foreseen an award for Prakash Raj, “Immediately after watching the first copy, I told Prakash that he would get a National Award for it. Such was his performance.”
Priyamani in bikini
Well, that is the latest buzz in Kollywood – that National Awardee Priyamani will appear in a bikini for a hot song sequence in the Telugu film Drona!
Priyamani is not the only Kollywood actress to go the “dare to bare” route. Recently, Trisha too was rumoured to have donned a swimsuit for the Telugu film Sarvam but the details are still under wraps as the filmmakers want to shellshock the audience when the film hits the screens!
Ever since it was invented by the French designer Louis Reard, the bikini has always stirred controversies and excitement. No wonder he named it after Bikini Island, where the US frequently conducted its nuclear tests in 1946 – the effect of this scanty dress is nothing short of a nuclear bomb!
With the film world accepting the bikini as another benchmark for measuring an actress’s beauty, it became a “status builder” in Hollywood and Bollywood. Slowly, the trend entered Kollywood when Nayantara made everyone’s jaws drop with her perfectly toned bikini-clad figure. It was surprising when Kollywood, which has always been conservative compared to Bollywood or Tollywood, accepted it and every one was able to see the hard work the actress put in to sculpt a perfect cellulite-free shape that could be displayed in a bikini.
