Wedding bells for Meghna Naidu
The bollywood actress Meghna Naidu is all set to marry her boyfriend Gushal Punjabi.She is quite familiar to South Indian audiences mostly for her item numbers and cameo roles in Vikramarkudu, Adavari Matalaku Ardhale Verule and Pandurangadu in Telugu, Saravana, Veerasamy, Vaitheeswaran and Pandhayam in Tamil and Bada Dosth in Malayalam,
She born in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, Meghna was engaged to Gushal recently in the presence of family members at Mumbai, close friends and relatives. Meghna has said that the marriage will be taking place in February 2010.
Debuting in Bollywood with Hawas, Meghna is currently acting in two Tamil films: Vaada and Kutty. The actress's forthcoming Hindi films include Ishq Deewana and Rivaaz.
Prabhu Deva and Nayanthara are staying together in a house!
One more problem has now emerged in Nayanthara and Prabhu Deva's romance. There was news that there would be no legal implications if Prabhu Deva married Nayanthara because he did not register his marriage with his wife Ramlath.They commented that the marriage is valid even though they have not registered the marriage. Ramlath and Prabhu Deva marriage took place clandestinely. After marriage Ramlath who is a Muslim embraced the Hindu religion. She changed her name as Latha.
Tollywood it is rumored that both of them are staying together in a house in Hyderabad. There is also news that Nayanthara had got an opportunity to act in a Hindi film which is to be directed by Prabhu Deva. Hence they are in search of a house in Mumbai to stay.
Famous High Court Advocate R Pratap Kumar said that they would be convicted if Nayanthara and Prabhu Deva marriage took place. He said, "Even if the marriage between Prabhu Deva and Ramlath is not registered, their marriage is still valid. In the gazette where the change of name of Ramlath was notified, her husband name has been shown as Prabhu Deva. Moreover there are proof that they had lived together under single roof. If a married person gets married once again he will be convicted for seven years. A person can escape only if the first wife does not object. A person can get married for second time only if his wife is missing for 7 years or if she is insane."

Nayanthara in more trouble!
South Indian leading actress Nayanthara seems to be in bigger trouble these days. Recently there was news regarding Prabhu Deva's wife Ramlath asking Nayan to spare Prabhu Deva.Now a mixture of women organizations have come out in the open for the support of Ramlath and have asked Nayan to notice to Ramlath's demands. They are demanding Nayanthara to issue a statement that she has no affair with Prabhu.
Sources add that they have also threatened to resort to massive agitations and not let her movies be screened if she fails to do so.
‘Robinhood’ opens to big crowd
The much awaited movie from Prithviraj, especially after his recent big hit ‘Puthiya Mukham’, opened to good crowds. The movie from super hit director Joshy is a multi starrer with young names like Narain, Jayasuriya and Bhavana in the cast list. ‘Robinhood’, a movie in the heist genre, featuring Prithvi as a hi-tech ATM thief, was released in 65 theatres all across Kerala.The first opinion from the premiere show viewers is that the movie is an interesting thriller with everyone in the cast, doing their roles very well. The movie also features three songs, two fight sequences and plenty of thrills and suspense. As per the initial reports the movie may turn out to become another good hit for Prithviraj.

The popular actress Asin, who has been working round-the-clock for the shooting of her second Hindi film London Dreams, was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai following an acute sinus condition.Asin was taken to Kokilaben hospital since it is close to her home in Andheri.According to reports, Asin has undergone an endoscopic sinus surgery and will be discharged from the hospital in few days.
The actress herself was busy for comment, her father, who was with her in the hospital. All this is part of the process of my daughter's growing up, said Asin's father. For now, the news of her hospitalization was being held behind closed doors.
Nayantara wants to quit glamour?
Nayantara, identified for her glamorous looks and dress, has reportedly made it clear to the director that in future, she would not be doing any glamour roles.This decision has, reportedly, angered the directors and producers who had signed her up for their films.
Nayantara's new decide indicates that she is planning to end her acting career at the earliest and get married to the man of her dreams.Nayantara's rise to become one of the highest paid actresses in south India was aided by her readiness to do high voltage glamour.
She shot to fame with Rajnikanth starrer Chandramukhi and reached the top with her bikini scenes in Billa. Most of her recent films had her appearing in skimpy costumes, including Satyam, Aegan, Villu and Anjaneyulu.
Asin to undergo surgery
An Endoscopic sinus surgery will be conducted on actress Asin at the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Mumbai.Asin said, "I have this galling allergic cold with acute sinus infection and blocked nostrils. My doctor advised me to do this minor surgery to drain my infection and clear the sinus. Within two or three days, I will be back to normal, jumping around as usual".
Endoscopic sinus surgery does not involve cutting through the skin, as it is performed entirely through the nostrils.
Therefore, she will be going home in a couple of days and her parents are with her at the hospital.Asin's dad says (Joseph Thottumkal) "She can go home after three days and it's nothing serious.
She had finished all her ad commitments and I am insisting that she takes two weeks rest at home before she bucks up for London Dreams encouragement starting in first week of October."
Nayanthara watches Wanted with Prabhu Deva
Nayanthara was in, to give honest support to Prabhu Deva on the opening day of Wanted, his debut film as director in Bollywood. The producer of the film Boney Kapoor was very particular not to hold any previews or a premiere of the film.Prabhu Deva could have easily arranged a special screening for her in one of the preview theatres. But Nayan was very exacting to see the film at a theatre and gauge the audience’s reaction. Prabhu prearranged tickets at the Cinemax multiplex in Bandra, for the first day first show. As Wanted, a remake of Vijay-Asin Pokkiri unfolded the audiences including Nayan got hooked to the film which is pure mass masala entertainer.
The film is stylish and Nayan enjoyed every moment of the film as Salman Khan is her favourite Bollywood actor. The film as noted Bollywood critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote- “Wanted rides on Salman Khan's star power.
He may not be the best actor in town, but in a film like this, in a role that seems like an extension of his personality, you can't think of anyone else enacting this role with flourish”.
Kavya Madhavan wants to show her dancing skills
Kavya Madhavan is all set to maker her comeback soon on the screen. After going though a concerned marriage, she seems to be getting her life back on track.She spoke about her comeback newly with the media and said that she wants to choose the right roles to make a good comeback. She added that that she has been learning Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam since her childhood and wants to display the same on screen.

Sree Guruvayoorappan wins best serial award
Directed by Vayalar Madhavankutty, has bagged the Atlas Film Critics' award 2008 for the best TV serial. The award was announced during a press conference by Atlas group chairman M.M. Ramachandran and George Onakkoor, chairman of the jury.
The award for the best director goes to Shanthivila Dinesh. Kollam Thulasi bagged the award for best actor for his role in Kadamattathu Kathanaar.
The best actress award goes to Chippi for her role in Sree Guruvayoorappan. The award for the most popular serial goes to Swami Ayyappan. The Way, directed by Bijulal, bagged the award for the best tele-film. The award for the second-best serial was shared by Chilluvilakku and Vishudha Alphonsamma.
Other award winners: Shammi Thilakan (second-best actor - Oru Veedum Orupaadu Visheshangalum), Lena (second-best actress - Chilluvilakku), Akhila R. Anand ( best child actor - Mazhavilppadangalappuram), Sreevathsan (best playwright - Sree Guruvayoorappan), Anpumani ( best cinematographer - Mukhamukham), Venugopal (best editor - The Way), Poovachal Khader (best lyricist - Chilluvilakku), Jerry Amaldev (music director - Oru Veedum Orupaadu Visheshangalum), G. Venugopal (best playback singer - Kadamattathu Kathanar), Rajalakshmi (best female playback singer - Oru Veedum Orupaadu Visheshangalum) and R. K. Radhakrishnan (art director - Swami Ayyappan).
The award for the best documentary goes to Parameswara Vijayam Oru Chuttikatha. The award for the best documentary director goes to Konni Sreekumar (Kannuchimmatha Kargil). Rajani Warrier is the best narrator (Kanninte Janaala). The special jury award goes to the documentary Ulkazhcha and the award for the best presentation to Aleena Padikkal. The T.N. Gopinathan Nair memorial gold medal for contributions to the television sector goes to Baiju Devaraj.
Actor Baiju’s plea for pistol rejected
Chief Judicial Magistrate, Thiruvananthapuram, R.R. Kamath has disallowed a petition by film star B. Santosh Kumar alias Baiju seeking the return of his licensed pistol which the police confiscated from him after he was named as accused in a case registered at Museum police station (crime number 387/05) in 2005.The Deputy Director of Prosecution (DDP) V. Radhakrishnan Nair objected Baiju’s petition stating that the “it will be dangerous to allow a man such as the petitioner who is prone to drinking and easily provoked to pull out the weapon (pistol) and threaten someone.” He said “it will be a folly of the worst kind to put a pistol in the hands of such a man.”
The CJM observed that Baiju was alleged to have joined a party at Trivandrum Club where liquor was “rather lavishly served” at around 10.30 p.m. on November 6, 2005. He said Baiju was found to have been armed with one boxing block (knuckle-duster) and pistol, both deadly weapons. He was seen engaged in a heated exchange of words with one Madhu Mohanan Nair, the complainant in the case.
The court observed that Baiju apparently “realised the fact that having used the pistol was a very costly mistake.” He was not able to stop the police from confiscating the weapon from his possession. The fact weighed heavily on his mind that proceeding with the case would result in confiscation of the pistol, which he held very dear.
The CJM said that “Mr. Baiju is seen to have followed the police in investigating the crime so much so that when the police laid the charge sheet against him, the fact that he threatened the complainant brandishing the pistol was seen to have been omitted from the charge sheet.” The investigating officer “obliterated” the fact that Baiju had used the pistol in committing the offences alleged by the complainant so that the film star “was enabled” to get the weapon back.
Baiju was alleged to have been in an inebriated condition at the time. “Yet the fact was seen only suggestively mentioned (in the charge sheet) whereas drunkenness was attributed to the complainant.” There was an attempt on the part of the investigating officer to make it appear that Baiju was not in the habit of using a very dangerous weapon in a drunken state, the CJM said.
The court observed that Baiju “took full advantage of the contents of charge sheet, alleging only an offence under section 325 of the IPC (causing simple hurt).”
It said Baiju settled the case amicably with the complainant in his anxiety to get the pistol back.
Asin and Dhoni in love?
There is a sudden closeness between cricket captain Dhoni and Asin. Both of them acted in an Ad film recently. Earlier there was news that Dhoni was in love with Lakshmi Rai and both were meeting clandestinely in a five star hotels. But both of them denied this affair.
Mandira Bedi becomes showstopper at Kolkata Fashion Week
Popular TV personality and cricket commentator Mandira Bedi kept the Kolkata Fashion Week-II audience spellbound as she sashayed down the ramp for the Satya Paul collection that was showcased Saturday.An excited Mandira later told reporters: "Kolkata is my birth place. This is the first time I have walked the ramp in Kolkata. In real life the endorsements and the shows I do, I mostly wear Satya Paul saris.
"I have walked for Satya Paul in Delhi and Dubai," she said, draped in a red woven zari sari, with mock weaving with embroideries on it.
Satya Paul, the designer brand celebrating its 25th year, showcased collections based on hand weaving.
"In the first 10-15 years of our business, weaving and craftsmen have played an important role. If we don't support their livelihood they can never go ahead in their lives," said Puneet Nanda, Satya Paul's son.
Describing the collection that was exhibited as 'non-Satya Paul type', he said: "I am pleased to showcase such a collection in Kolkata as this place has a lot of respect and regard for weaving."
He has named the collection 'Resham (silk) and Zari' to highlight the weaving that goes into fabrics like woven silk as well as jacards, georgette and satin. The collection had both saris and lehengas.
Vani Kishore form Mollywood
Vani Kishore is a beautiful girl from the God's Own Country who is making her entry into Kollywood. The lady has been signed up for two films as of now. One is Marubadiyum Kadhal which will hit the screens soon. The other film is Sankaran Kovil which is yet to hit the floors. Bala to marry Idea Star Amritha Suresh
Tamil - Malayalam film actor Bala is set to marry Asianet star singer 2007 fame Amritha Suresh.Bala was one of the judges in Star Singer show fell for the contestant Amritha who has just appeared for her Plus 2 examinations. They became friends and eventually friendship blossomed into romance.
As Amritha gave a positive reply, both of them intimated their parents. Bala's parents came to Amritha's home in Ernakulum and fixed the marriage.
Bala introduced by director Anil in Kalabham in 2006, became a regular face in Malayalam. His other films include Big B, Sound of Boot, SMS, Ayudham, Champada and Venalmaram.
Bala is a Tamilian and started his career in Tamil movies. He debuted in Anbu and later in Kadhal Kisu Kisu, Amma Appa Selvan and Kalinga. He is now more engaged in Malayalam films. At present he is at Thrissur actng in Puthiya Mukham directed by Deepan. His new film Manjal Veyil was released recently.
The marriage date of the couple is still to be fixed up.

"Pazhassi Raja" website launched
"Pazhassi Raja" is the multilingual flick which has been making headlines for some time. This flick stars superstar Mammootty in the lead with Tamil actor Sarathkumar also playing an important role. The website of this flick was launched recently. It was a grand affair with many including Mammootty and Sarath being present at the launch. The movie which was supposed to be released during Ramzan seems to have been postponed.
The secret behind Meera Jasmine's Tamil interest!
Due to the higher compensation offered by the Kollywood producers, Meera Jasmine accepts more films in Tamil than any other southern languages including Malayalam. Recently she commented that there wasn't much scope for acting in Tamil movies, as most of their stories were only centered around the hero. " But I praise the Tamil producers for offering good payment", she said.She has got offers for Kannada and Telugu films too, but accepts them very selectively. At present, she has one film each in both the languages. In Malayalam, she had signed up for two films; one is with Mammooty, and the other one is with Dileep. She will also be director Blessy's heroine in his new film which is going to be shot entirely in Kolkata. But in Tamil she has already signed up for 5 projects!
Her next movie in Kollywood is Parattai Engira Azhagu Sundaram with Danush. After this film she will act with Bharath in Nepali. A few days ago, director Baala had approached her for a role in Naan Kadavul in the place of Bhavana. She has committed films with Vishal and Vikram also for their forthcoming projects.
When asked about this, Meera told us, 'there is no change in my opinion about Tamil films. But now the directors offer me roles with a greater scope for good acting. Yes... no doubt, I'm also getting good payment here. Good payment and good character... Can you expect any more reason for my interest in Tamil films?'
Meanwhile, she has invited some of the directors and actors, including S.J.Surya and a few pressmen as well, for the Grahapravesham of her newly constructed palace house near Kadavanthra in Kerala. She has named the palace as Vaibhavam, which cost more than a crore rupees to make. The event will be held on the day of Vishu.

Mammootty to have quiet 56th birthday
Malayalam superstar Mammootty plans to celebrate his 56th birthday Monday in a quiet way and says he has made no resolutions for the occasion either. Speaking to IANS over telephone from Chennai, the actor said he prefers to have a quiet birthday.
'I have no birthday resolutions either. I am waiting for my son to arrive from Kochi and my daughter who is in Bangalore is not coming,' said Mammootty.
Since his birthday falls during Ramzan this year, the actor, a devout Muslim, plans to remain indoors.
'Today I am taking the day off and tomorrow I am going to Palani (a temple town in Tamil Nadu) for the shooting of 'Chattambinadu',' said the veteran.
Asked if he was expecting to get a national award, with the 55th National Film Awards to be announced later Monday, Mammootty laughed.
'See, a few days before the awards are announced speculations are aired. I think I have overcome such moments and I only concentrate on what I have undertaken, and such things no longer bother me,' said the three-time national award winner.
In a career spanning close to three decades, he has acted in more than 300 Malayalam films besides Hindi, Telegu, Tamil and English.
Apart from his hectic shooting schedules, the actor is also the chairman of the Communist Party of India-Marxist backed Kairali TV channel since its inception in the late nineties.
